Background of the project:
Through the use of imaging and password technology, check image exchange system could turn paper checks to electronic images or information which could be used in the nationwide through the network.

At present, the system, which is independent from local check exchange system, aims to process business between different places because the new system must keep local system safe and stable. In future, the standards for processing the business will be unified; meanwhile, local system will be integrated. By then, check image exchange system would cover the whole country's business of check exchange.

Customer requirements:
According to the actual situation, a perfect tree structure, which has national center, branches, ticket centers, commercial banks and corresponding subordinate organizations, was established by the R&D department of People's Bank of China whose suggestion is to provide solutions based on Linux for the CIFE's system of commercial banks and similar agencies. CIFE, the endpoint of check image exchange system and facing users directly, is the bridge between them. Hence, the Linux operating system must have high reliability and high performance, as well as provide 7 * 24 hour uninterrupted service.
